I finally gave up on mine and got an iPod nano 16GB model http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002M3SO0G/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00 . I found iTunes to be very close to what I was used to with Creative Explorer, and works well on both my XP PC and my Win7 laptop.
